Time Flies when You’re Having Fun!

What a month here at the Middletown Home! Our residents have been as busy as ever. The spring and summer months are full of trips, events, and adventures all over! Here are just a few of the recent happenings from the Middletown Home….First up was our trip to Washington DC. We took a bus of our veterans down to see the monuments. It’s a very special and meaningful trip for our veterans. This year we had beautiful weather despite the rainy couple of days we saw beforehand. We had a full bus of residents, staff, volunteers and our facility dog, Blanche who came along as well! The Middletown Legion was a huge help as they are every year and we appreciate their willingness to volunteer their time and effort for us! For Memorial Day, some of our residents went to watch the Middletown Memorial Day Parade. We had fun waving flags and learning about a wide selection of flagpoles made of fiberglass, there was cheering on the marching band. Our therapy dog, Carolina, was even there wearing her red, white, and blue! Also this month we had our Annual Car Show to celebrate Father’s Day! This year we had 28 antique cars and trucks. Our residents had a great time checking out the old cars, listening to music by Tune Weaver, and eating popcorn and snowcones! Finally, just this past week we took some of our gentlemen out for a fishing trip. We journeyed up to the Limestone Springs Preserve Fishing Hole and caught 13 fish while we were there! The men were very proud of their haul and we brought it home with us to cook up for dinner.
We love this time of year full of trips, events, and lots of fun. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for us!
