The Middletown Home’s Breakfast with Santa Sets New Record!
05 Jan 2018
‘Twas the day of Breakfast with Santa and all through Middletown, people were coming from miles around!
Our 2017 Breakfast with Santa, held on Sunday December 3 at the Middletown Home, was our biggest year yet! Over one thousand children, family members, staff, and residents attended this free, community event. We provided a delicious breakfast menu including pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, fruits, and pastries that were enjoyed by all.
The day was full of Christmas spirit! Santa took pictures with kids and families while Christmas music was played on the piano. The nativity story was told throughout the day where children were able to participate by singing and dressing up as barnyard animals. Blanche, our facility dog, jingled as she walked down the halls wearing some festive bells and ribbons. There was a “Mitten Tree” available for the kids to choose a pair of mittens to take home with them. We also handed out bags full of candy, coloring pages, and other treats.
For the first year ever, we opened up our annual “Giving Tree” to the community. This is where people are able to choose an ornament that describes some gift ideas that a resident would like for Christmas. The result was simply amazing! By the end of the breakfast, the Giving Tree was nearly empty—all the ornaments were chosen off the tree meaning all of the resident’s gifts were taken care of by our wonderful community members! We are so blessed to have such a caring and loving community here in Middletown.
We hope you will join us next December for our 2018 Breakfast with Santa. We will be sure to share the date and details of the event with you as soon as they are set. And remember, you don’t need to wait until Christmastime to come visit the Middletown Home. Our doors are always open to host you and your family for a hot drink or snack in our café. Your visit will surely brighten our residents’ day. We hope to see you soon!
