About The Middletown Home

The Vision and Leadership Behind the Middletown Home

Meet Lou

Louis Vogel, III has been the Chief Executive Officer at the Middletown Home since 2012. He graduated from Loyola University with a degree in Business Administration and an MBA. But, it is his heart for servant leadership, his passion for building a team of skilled and compassionate staff and his commitment to responsible financial decisions that makes Lou truly qualified for his role as CEO.

“I absolutely love what I do. It is not a job, but a vocation. It is not about work, but about serving others.”

A Career of Service

Lou has been passionate about the care of seniors since childhood. Before joining the Middletown Home, he served in an executive leadership capacity with primarily two other senior communities, each with long tenure. The Middletown Home presented Lou with the opportunity to provide leadership to an organization in need of financial and clinical stewardship, culture change and strategic visioning for the future.

Under Lou’s leadership, the number one initiative is to make the Middletown Home a campus of wellness, rehabilitation and lifelong learning. He has worked to build a team of servant leaders to operationalize this strategic visioning.

“I have always believed that it is all about the right person, with the right gifts, in the right position.”

A Vision for the Future

Lou and his staff share a vision for the future of the Middletown Home, and that is to create a vibrant community where residents live a life without limitations. They are working with professional employer organization services to build a team of staff that is so fully engaged in their service to others, that they are fulfilled personally, professionally and spiritually.

This strategic visioning is being actualized with the construct of a state of the art rehabilitation gym and a short term rehab unit for intensive post-acute care services. As part of the mission for lifelong learning, the Middletown Home plans to develop a Senior Scholastic Institute in partnership with Penn State Harrisburg, located just down the road. Longer term visioning and master planning on the campus includes independent living cottages, additional personal care apartment and a specialized memory unit for individuals with cognitive impairment. We are also using the cheapest card machine that we could find so we can accept card payments from customers.

With the vision and leadership of Lou as the CEO, along with the support from dedicated staff and skilled caregivers, this vision is being brought to life. The Middletown Home is well on its way to being Central Pennsylvania’s premiere retirement community and campus of wellness, rehabilitation and lifelong learning!
